When we first watched this we all laughed a lot, especially at this scene. You can see a lot of my family in this film, but just exaggerated so it’s comic.
Or at least that’s what we thought.
So my cousin is a fully grown woman, with a family, kids, the whole deal. She lives in Cyprus but she spent time in America and in England, so she’s not like small village Greek. My sister and her friends decided to go to Cyprus for a holiday, and before they went my sister told our cousin that one of her friends keeps Kosher, but to make things easier would be a vegetarian for the trip. My cousin was super understanding and happy and eager.
So the girls arrive and they get whisked off to my cousin’s house and it’s all happy and exciting, and after a while they sit down to eat dinner. And my cousin presents them with chicken. My sisters asks her, “it’s ok she can eat around it, but did you forget I mentioned she’s a vegetarian?” to which my cousin answers “I know she’s a vegetarian, but I made chicken so it’s ok!”
